When You Visit a Hindu Temple (Mandir)

• When entering a Hindu temple (Mandir), you must remove your shoes as a sign of respect.
• Hindu temples in Britain often feature large, colorful images of Hindu deities.
• You may see people making offerings to the deities, such as:
  • Food
  • Money
  • Flowers
• Twice a day, there is a short aarti ceremony where light is offered to the deities.
• After the aarti, a lamp is brought among the worshippers:
  • They place a coin on the tray.
  • They place their hands over the flame and touch their heads, symbolizing accepting the light of God.
