Islam - Festivals

Festivals

Muslims observe two major festivals. The first is Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting. During Ramadan, Muslims abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs during daylight hours. At the end of Ramadan, Muslims celebrate by wearing new clothes, saying special prayers, and gathering with family and friends.

The second major festival is Eid al-Adha, which commemorates the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. This festival includes special prayers, feasts, and the distribution of food to the poor.
