When You Visit a Sikh Gurdwara (Temple)
- The Gurdwara is the Sikh place of worship.
- At the front of the worship room, there is a copy of the Sikh holy book, the Guru Granth Sahib, placed on a throne-like platform.
- Worship primarily involves reading from the Guru Granth Sahib.
- Before entering the Gurdwara, you are expected to:
- Remove your shoes.
- Cover your head.
- Inside the Gurdwara:
- Sikhs bow or prostrate themselves before the Guru Granth Sahib.
- They make a small offering of money, say a short prayer, and then sit down.
- Men and women sit on separate sides of the room.
