When You Visit a Sikh Gurdwara (Temple)

• The Gurdwara is the Sikh place of worship.
• At the front of the worship room, there is a copy of the Sikh holy book, the Guru Granth Sahib, placed on a throne-like platform.
• Worship primarily involves reading from the Guru Granth Sahib.
• Before entering the Gurdwara, you are expected to:
  • Remove your shoes.
  • Cover your head.
• Inside the Gurdwara:
  • Sikhs bow or prostrate themselves before the Guru Granth Sahib.
  • They make a small offering of money, say a short prayer, and then sit down.
  • Men and women sit on separate sides of the room.
